Twenty years ago, Tequila Don Nacho entrusted Puntoasterisco with renewing its brand identity, aiming to enter and compete in the U.S. market. As part of meeting export and trade requirements, the main challenge was to design a label that communicated the product’s exceptional quality while elevating the international perception of tequila.

At that time, the tequila category was still strongly tied to traditional symbols: the agave leaf prominently featured on the front, packaging that literally referenced agave traditions, and it was hard to imagine a tequila bottle without those classic elements. Our proposal introduced a more sophisticated visual narrative, positioning tequila within the premium spirits category without losing its distinctive Mexican origin.

The project encompassed brand redesign, illustration, and a comprehensive visual identity system, resulting in a label that, two decades later, remains current and relevant. Today, Don Nacho exports to more than 20 countries—an achievement that reflects how a well-directed strategy can transform a brand.

Tequila Don Nacho became one of Puntoasterisco's flagship projects. The collaboration extended to other presentations and group brands such as Tequila Somonque; we developed materials for international trade shows, accompanied the client in their first steps into the digital world, and built a lasting working relationship over the years.

The brand renewal not only redefined its identity but also allowed Puntoasterisco to explore new opportunities in the tequila and spirits sector, later collaborating with various brands on their positioning.
